The Art

What Is Wing Chun?

Wing Chun is a traditional Southern Chinese martial art and one of the most practical, efficient self-defense systems ever developed. Unlike strength-based fighting styles, Wing Chun relies on structure, timing, sensitivity, and economy of motion — making it equally effective for men, women, and people of all ages and fitness levels. Masters-Center has been teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu since 1980 under the guidance of Sifu Philip Holder.

Why Train Wing Chun?

Practical Self-Defense

Wing Chun is designed for real-world situations. Its techniques are direct, efficient, and effective against larger, stronger opponents.

Mental Discipline

Training develops focus, patience, and mental clarity — benefits that extend far beyond the training floor into everyday life.

Regular Wing Chun practice improves coordination, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular health in a low-impact way.

Rich Tradition

Wing Chun carries a 300-year lineage rooted in the Shaolin Temple. Training connects you to a living tradition of martial wisdom.

What You'll Learn

The Wing Chun Curriculum

The Masters-Center Wing Chun program follows a structured curriculum covering the three empty-hand forms, wooden dummy training, weapons, and Chi Sao (sticky hands) sensitivity training.

Wing Chun wooden dummy training
1

Siu Nim Tao

The first form — the foundation of Wing Chun. Develops structure, centerline theory, and basic hand techniques.

2

Chum Kiu

The second form — introduces footwork, turning, and bridging the gap to the opponent.

3

Biu Jee

The third form — emergency techniques, finger strikes, and recovery from compromised positions.

4

Mook Jong (Wooden Dummy)

Training on the wooden dummy develops power, precision, and the ability to redirect force.

5

Chi Sao (Sticky Hands)

The hallmark of Wing Chun — sensitivity drills that train reflexive response and close-range combat.

6

Weapons: Luk Dim Boon Kwan & Baat Cham Dao

Advanced training with the six-and-a-half point pole and the butterfly swords.
